Covid Positive Cases
Kia Ora Koutou
We have our first student case of Covid advised to us today. The student has been away from school since Wednesday last week so the risk to the school community is considered low. We have also been advised of a staff member who is currently isolating as a household contact has tested positive. The staff member has not been at school since Friday last week.
A message will go to the class affected either by Seesaw or email to monitor for symptoms but as said in our previous communication we encourage everyone to monitor for symptoms.

Covid update 28 February 2022
Kia Ora Koutou Katoa
I know that we have entered an anxious and uncertain time with sharp increases in cases evident across the community and region.
At this stage, we have not been advised of any students or staff who are positive cases but we do have a few families who are isolating as household contacts. We also have a few staff who are isolating as household contacts.
Please get in touch with us to advise us of any Covid related information so that we can support your family as best we can. In the event that your child is isolating (but not unwell) the classroom teacher will make contact to support distance learning. This may not be until after school on day 1 however.
As a general piece of advice, please monitor for symptoms at all times, as the virus is definitely in the community.
Kind regards

Covid Update
Kia Ora Koutou Katoa
Tonight we make the shift to phase 3 of the Omicron plan. We have been lucky to not be affected as a school up until now and with this new phase, the rules around who is considered a close contact become much less.
We would still ask that you let us know if your child is a confirmed case or is isolating due to being a household contact of a confirmed case so that we can advise the appropriate parts of the school community to monitor for symptoms. There is a helpful flow chart attached to help with how phase 3 works.
The school remains at Red Level and all of our public health measures remain in place until further notice. We thank you for your continued support with our public health measures.
kind regards

Swimming Sports
Dear Parents and Caregivers
Next week we are planning to run swimming sports for the Kawaka, Kahikatea and Kauri syndicates at the Town pool.
Due to Covid restrictions on the number of students we can have together we will not be able to run it as we would normally. There will be no South Wairarapa swim event or regional this year.
Each Syndicate will have a separate day and we will work through the normal event getting times and results as we do normally. These will count towards students awards at the end of the year.
There will be more emphasis on participation with fun events included.
Kawaka Tuesday March 2nd
Kauri on Wednesday March 3rd
Kahikatea on Friday March 5th
Kowhai will be holding their Swimming Showcase onTuesday March 8th. This will be filmed and made available online
Please make sure your child brings their swimming gear, lunch and drink on their day.
Kind regards
Greytown School staff
Term 1 Camp Update – Kahikatea & Kauri students
Kia Ora Koutou
We have made the difficult decision to postpone the term 1 camps until term 4.
We know that students will be disappointed about this and we are planning to organise day trips for term 1 as an alternative.
