Kauri

Kauri Syndicate has two Years 7 & 8 classes with Ms Jolene Butson in Room 13 and Mrs Brigid Stevens in Room 14.
Learning through the use of information and communication technology (ICT) is a high priority. All the students have a Macbook (laptop computer) permanently and we acknowledge that the use of these laptops has made a big impact on the students' engagement and learning..

There are plenty of opportunities for extending students' talents in various areas with students selected to attend enrichment programmes.

Past students of our syndicate initiated 'The North Creek Project'. This project has seen the realignment of the creek to a more natural state and this year we will complete the planting so that future generations will have an onsite location to investigate native species in our area. All students will become 'Kaitiaki (people who look after/care) for the area.

In term 4, Year 8 students go on a camp to advance teamwork skills, problem-solving, organisation and survival skills in the bush.

Year 7 students complete a Leadership Course for three days. This includes a range of activities to improve the leadership skills they will need when they are Year 8s.

All Year 8 students are encouraged to 'step up' and be positive role models for the rest of the school. Responsibilities are widespread – Black Hats, school council, peer mediation and house leaders.
All students in Kauri Syndicate are encouraged to develop their leadership skills and initiative, being  positive and involved members of the school.
