Middle School Learning

Welcome to the Middle Syndicate.

We are made up of Year 4, 5 and 6 students. Inside the Tahorahina block, we have an open and warm collaborative environment where we encourage students to learn and challenge themselves in a fun and engaging way.

Each class has its own home area where students are greeted in the morning and informed of the daily activities. From there, they work and check in with their home teacher during our structured Reading, Writing and Maths sessions, while having the freedom to work with other students in the block in a space that suits their individual needs, whether it is a quiet breakout area or a small guided workshop.

We encourage our students to be independent learners who understand their next learning steps and celebrate their progress. Our learning spaces have access to technology through iPads and Chromebooks, which are integrated into our blended learning environment.

We are lucky to have such a fabulous backyard here and love to incorporate it into our EOTC (Education Outside the Classroom) programme. We look for opportunities to take students into the local area and beyond their comfort zones through experiences such as exploring the Patuna Chasm or biking the Remutaka Rail Trail. More recently, we travelled by train to Wellington as part of our New Zealand Histories unit to visit Te Papa and Wellington Museum, where students enjoyed many inspiring and creative learning experiences.
