Enrolment and School Zone
When can I enrol my child?
You can enrol your child at any time by visiting our school office or emailing admin@greytown.school.nz. Our administration team will be happy to provide further information and guide you through the enrolment process.
Children can be enrolled on the day they start. However, we encourage families to enrol in advance so we can carefully plan class placements and ensure the best possible transition.
You are also welcome to pre-enrol your child, even if they are not turning five for another year or more, if you know Greytown will be your long-term home. Early enrolment helps us organise school visits, plan class structures, and maintain balanced class sizes throughout the year.
Is Greytown School zoned?
Yes. Greytown School operates an enrolment zone. Children who live within the home zone are entitled to enrol at the school.

Can I enrol if I live out of zone?
Out-of-zone enrolments are only considered in very limited circumstances. Priority may be given to siblings of current students where parents have requested special consideration from the Board.
How can I check if we live within the enrolment zone?
Our enrolment zone includes:
- Properties within Greytown.
- Between the Waiohine River and Humphries Street/Woodside Road.
- West of the railway line between the Waiohine and Tauherenikau Rivers.
- State Highway 2 south of Greytown to emergency number 2034.
- Properties within 1.6 km of the Battersea bus route, including Greytown–Martinborough Road, Battersea Road, Wards Line, Fabians Road, and Papawai Road.
- The Papawai area to the Ruamahanga River.
- State Highway 2 from south of the Waiohine River into Greytown.

What information do I need to enrol?
A copy of your child’s birth certificate is required as proof of age.
Families living within the enrolment zone will also need to provide proof of address. Acceptable documents include:
- A utility bill (less than three months old), such as electricity or internet.
- A rental agreement or sale and purchase agreement.
All new families will be asked to complete an enrolment form either before or on their child’s first day of attendance.

- Parent or caregiver names

- Email address
