The Greytown School Board of Trustees (BoT) would like to welcome you and your family to Greytown School. We all love having the opportunity to represent our community by helping to lead our school into the future, so all our children can succeed and have fun in their learning.

What is the role of the Board of Trustees?
The role of the Board of Trustees is to help govern the school to ensure that it meets all its needs, legally and ethically, as representatives of the community and as employers of the staff.
The primary focuses of the Board of Trustees are to ensure that the school:
- Has a clear direction for the future through its Charter and Strategic Plan, enabling future-focused and successful educational outcomes and decisions for children and the wider school community.
- Upholds our school values and positive school culture.
- Provides learning programmes that enable our children to achieve and develop according to the vision of the New Zealand Curriculum: “The vision of our young people as lifelong learners who are confident and creative, connected, and actively involved.”
- Supports the Principal and Senior Leadership Team in overseeing major decisions within the school, including property development and maintenance, the annual budget, and the achievement and progress of learners.
How many people are on the Board of Trustees?
A Board of Trustees typically has seven members:
- Five parent-elected trustees, elected every three years.
- The School Principal.
- A Staff Trustee elected by the teaching and support staff.
In addition, the Board of Trustees can co-opt up to four additional members to help reflect the ethnic and socio-economic composition of the school community, support gender balance, or provide specialist skills and assistance with significant projects.

Every year our school finances are audited by AuditPLUS to ensure we comply with all financial legislation and best practice.
